The Vocational International Program (VIP) – Summer Course 2025 was successfully held by the Department of Information and Culture of the Vocational School of Diponegoro University with the theme “Water and Culture: Exploring Traditions and Communication Across Borders.” The international seminar, held on July 14-15, 2025, successfully attracted over 90 international participants.
This international seminar is part of a series of Summer Courses held from July to September. Discussing the relationship between culture and water, this international event invited four keynote speakers, including Prof. Parinitha (Mangalore University, India), Prof. Dr. F. Wijsen (Radboud University, Netherlands), Dr. Sr Chrisia Laura P. (St John College of Humanities and Science, India), and Prof. Dr. Erikson Saragih, S.Pd., M.Hum. (University of North Sumatra, Indonesia). Each day, two topics are discussed, with each topic presented by a different foreign lecturer.
Some of the topics discussed in this international Summer Course seminar were “Travelling Across the Water and the Kind of Significance It Had in Both Cultures; Water Wisdom: Linking Religion, Culture, Tradition and Technology; Water for 3’p’s: Peace, Prosperity, and Progress; Media and Communication: Spreading the Value of Water through Media Campaigns.”
The event was opened by Vice Rector IV, Wijayanto, S.IP., M.Si., Ph.D., who highlighted the important role of water in today’s life. The issue of water is particularly relevant to Undip, as Central Java Province is currently facing water-related challenges. Given its relevance to contemporary life, the event successfully attracted 99 international participants from various countries, including Malaysia, South Korea, Pakistan, Yemen, and several other partner institutions of Undip.
