Rhea Gita Khaerunnisa Kosasih is eager to share with you her second day at APEC Forum in Taipei. The second day of the forum was packed with experts and professionals in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and entrepreneurship.

The theme was the important role women can play in STEM from various perspectives. Many of them were women entrepreneurs from various sectors, who shared valuable experiences and resources from their entrepreneurial journey. Take the case of Michelle Chiang, who is the founder and creative entrepreneur of Boho A La Mode, a macrame craft studio. Michelle started her craft journey in 2017, inspired by her mother-in-law who is an expert in the ancient art of weaving. Although she was considered successful in her conventional career, she was not satisfied with her achievements. Therefore, she decided to turn over a new leaf and chose to rewrite her life story in the world of handicrafts. Michelle invited the participants of the APEC forum to try their hand at macrame. She taught the participants the techniques and values of her art, after sharing her experiences in the arts and entrepreneurship.

The last day of the forum was closed with visits to several business locations to gain a deeper experience of the success of non-profit organizations and sustainable education in Taiwan. The business locations visited by the participants were NPO HUB Taipei in the morning, and Digi Block in the afternoon. During the visits, participants heard from female entrepreneurs who have contributed to management and entrepreneurship. Oliver Chang, co-founder and COO of Impact Hub Taipei, shared her experience as an operations director in her company. He explained about his position and the roles that he is responsible for as director of operations. He stated that the purpose of Impact Hub is to facilitate and help the social innovation ecosystem, the company has a role as a social innovation laboratory, incubator, and community center around the world.

The presentations and visits that took place made the APEC forum an extraordinary experience. A wide range of information and insights were gained regarding the role of women and youth in global economic development and development. The speakers were all professionals who could provide relevant material in the modern era. In addition, participants also had the opportunity to share experiences, and participate in discussions with each other, so as to better understand the challenges and opportunities that various countries have. It is hoped that APEC or similar forums can continue to be held, and that more parties will participate. Because, this forum is an event that can have a positive impact. Hopefully, the APEC forum will not only serve as a forum to accommodate aspirations and ideas, but can also realize a concrete policy that has a direct impact on the wider community.
