Learning books containing simple English materials made specifically for Omah Kopi Ngemplak (Om Koplak) MSMEs were submitted on Monday, August 13, 2024 as one of the mono-disciplinary work programs of Indah Farah Octania, a student who is a member of Team II of the Diponegoro University Real Work Lecture (KKN) in Banyuanyar Village, Ampel District, Boyolali Regency. This project aims to improve the English language skills of the interns at Om Koplak, so that they can be more adept at communicating with foreign tourists who visit the coffee shop.
This learning book contains materials designed according to the request of MSME owners, namely simple English materials that will help the interns’ English learning. The book includes basic vocabulary, common phrases, and conversation examples that can help the interns interact with foreign visitors.
A few weeks earlier, Indah Farah, or who is familiarly called Ifo, consulted several times with Ms. Nuning as the manager of Om Koplak regarding the material to be compiled in the learning book. This process was quite challenging, because she had to find credible sources and at the same time, Ifo had to work on mono-disciplinary projects and other additional projects.
The learning book was handed over directly to Mrs. Nuning at Om Koplak’s shop. “I hope this learning book can be a useful teaching medium for the interns of Om Koplak UMKM. With better English skills, they can be more confident in communicating with foreign tourists and leave a good impression on them”, said Ifo, during the process of handing over the learning book.
Meanwhile, the manager of Om Koplak also expressed his gratitude to Ifo for his contribution. “I really appreciate the contribution that has been made. This learning book is a great help in improving the quality of our services. I am sure this book will be very useful for the staff, because the language is easy to understand and the explanation is very complete.”
With this learning book, it is hoped that Omah Kopi Ngemplak can further strengthen its appeal as a foreign tourist-friendly culinary destination, and provide a satisfying experience for every customer who visits.
