The Applied Foreign Language study program invited Dr. Dra. Putu Saroyini Piartini, M.M., Ak to deliver a guest lecture for third-year students. The guest lecture was held at Ramada by Wyndham Hotel, Badung, Bali on Thursday, 23 May.

On this occasion, Mrs. Putu shared with students about tourism marketing of Bali Island. She talked about the facts of Bali tourism marketing. As a province that relies heavily on the tourism sector, Bali must be able to do the right branding to target the appropriate market segment. The branding that has been established is Bali as the Island of Gods.

However, the implementation of this branding is not without challenges. As stated by Mrs. Putu, who is also a member of the Policymakers of the Bali Tourism Promotion Board 2022-2026, there is still a lack of synergy between the pentahelix elements (government, private sector, community, academics, and media) in the field. For example, there are still non-uniform mentions of Bali on posters or promotional media that are displayed.

This guest lecture was quite eye-opening for the students regarding the challenges in the field related to tourism promotion. They were enthusiastic to ask questions to the expert from Udayana University. Some questions focused on steps that students can take to innovate in tourism marketing.

This guest lecturer lecture activity is one of a series of Field Work Lecture (KKL) activities. This activity makes learning go beyond textbooks. The students are able to see the data in practice.
