The Applied Foreign Languages Students’ Association invited 3 inspiring Undip alumni speakers for the 2023 Job and Scholarship Sharing (JASS). This activity was held at the Ir Prof Soenardi Building on Saturday, October 7 2023.

The three inspirational speakers are alumni who graduated in 2023. They are Sabam Manullang, Nugroho Catur Pamungkas, and Gita Ayudhia Fitriani. Each speaker shared their experiences according to their achievements. Sabam was the first speaker to explain his experience. Sabam is an Industrial Engineering alumni who is the President of Beswan Djarum Semarang 37. He explained how a student must have goals to achieve. From this goal, subconsciously, the focus and efforts made can lead to that goal. This is what he held firmly and led him to achieve the privilege of being one of Djarum Scholarship awardees.

The second speaker, Catur, shared with the audience his experience during his internship at PT Tempo Inti Media Tbk, one of the largest news media companies in Indonesia. Catur is an Applied Foreign Languages alumnus who just completed his studies this year. He shared his experience as a reporter for Tempo.co. For him, integrity and honesty are two very important things to uphold in the world of work. He also advised the JASS participants to always challenge themselves and be willing to get out of their comfort zones. His experience as a reporter at Tempo.co changed him from being an introvert to someone who is able to socialize with strangers.

In the final session, the first batch of IISMA alumni from the Undip Vocational College, Gita shared her experience of achieving IISMA and during her activities. Gita is an alumni of the Urban Studies study program who had the opportunity to experience IISMA at City of Glasgow College, United Kingdom. In her presentation, she said that students must have self-control to avoid procrastinating. Apart from that, self-control must also be applied in carrying out daily activities and achieving the goals they desire. This was one of the keys to her success in getting the prestigious opportunity to experience IISMA.

All of the speakers encouraged students to be active in academic and non-academic activities. Apart from that, good soft skills and values are two things that students also need to train and develop to be able to achieve their goals.
