Adhisty Orizha Sativa, Applied Foreign Language student successfully completed community service in Tokushima Prefecture, Japan.

This community service activity is in collaboration with NICE Workcamp Japan through the Dejavato Foundation which took place from 18 – 31 August 2023. The International Voluntary Service Project Kamojima 2 is a service activity carried out by Adhisty, which is one of the programs of NICE Workcamp Japan. This program provides an opportunity for students to carry out community service on an international scale with participants from various countries, such as Belgium, France, Hong Kong and Italy.

Adhisty’s daily community service activity to Japan is visiting Jidoukan. Jidoukan is an educational facility provided by the city government as a place to learn and play for children aged 0 to 12 years. Apart from that, there were several other activities carried out by Adhisty to understand and experience Japanese culture directly. Among them is the Hana Road Project where volunteers carry out pruning of flower gardens which is usually done every 3 months. A visit to Oasahiko Shrine was also one of Adhisty’s activities to get to know and learn directly about historical places in Tokushima Prefecture, Japan.

Participating in the International Voluntary Service Project this time will certainly enable you to get to know and learn more deeply about the early childhood education system, monitoring the character formation of children in Japan, as well as enriching your knowledge and experiencing traditional and modern culture directly. Not only that, participation in community service activities in Japan can also hone and implement several subjects that Adhisty has studied during her studies. “Through this program, I can also communicate directly with foreigners. Usually we communicate using English and Japanese because there are some members who can’t use English so we have to chat in Japanese and vice versa.” She also said that the experience and knowledge gained would certainly be a provision in completing studies according to her skills.
