Ja Mata, Raika-San: Applied Foreign Languages Bids Farewell to Waseda Volunteer

The Applied Foreign Languages study program bid farewell to Raika Ito, a teaching volunteer from Waseda University, Japan on Tuesday 27 June 2023. Raika-san is a teaching volunteer from the international volunteer program organized by Dejavato Foundation.

This farewell activity was attended by lecturers of Applied Foreign Languages program and Mr. Ketut Purwantoro as chairman of Dejavato Foundation. As a token of appreciation, the study program represented by Mrs. Sriwahyu Istana Trahutami, M.Hum.gave a merchandise to Raika-san. He would return to Japan in early July to continue his final year at Waseda University.

Raika-san has been helping lecturers and students at the Applied Foreign Languages program for approximately 3 months. He participated in assisting with several courses related to Japanese, Interpreting, Advanced Speaking, and other courses related to tourism and cross-cultural understanding.

The study program really appreciates Raika-san’s presence in helping with lectures in the study program as one of the core is Japanese. The presence a Japanese speakers was intended to allow students to learn directly from the native speaker, which is one of the study program’s efforts to increase the competitiveness of graduates. In addition, it is hoped that students will be able to increase their intercultural understanding of Applied Foreign Language through the interaction. The presence of the Japanese speaker was made possible because of the partnership between the study program and the Dejavato Foundation which has been going on for more than 2 years.
