All home base lecturers of the Applied Foreign Language study program are now certified for Assessor in a competency-based assessment. The lecturers have attended training and certification to become competency assessors, the latest of which was held at Noormans Hotel Semarang from February 28 to March 1, 2024.

The need of industry and work world related to human resources who have qualifications in certain fields is increasing. This qualification is generally shown through competency certification. To obtain a certificate of competence, participants need to go through a series of assessment processes to prove their competence in the chosen field.

With a role in shaping and developing the nation’s next generation, universities are expected to provide added value for their graduates by facilitating them to obtain competency certificates. The Vocational College of Universitas Diponegoro responded to this challenge by establishing a Professional Certification Agency (in Indonesian, known as LSP). The study programs in the college support this LSP by registering certification schemes that are in accordance with their respective fields of education.

In addition, lecturers from each study program are encouraged to take certification to become competency assessors. As of this March, all of the Applied Foreign Language study program, consisting of 5 home base lecturers, have been certified as competency assessors. So, all Applied Foreign Language lecturers are eligible to organize assessments for students if the certification scheme is later opened by the Diponegoro University Vocational School LSP. The certification scheme registered by the Applied Foreign Language study program is the occupational certification scheme for Translator of General Texts.
