The Applied Foreign Language program of Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) in collaboration with the Students’ Association of Applied Foreign Language successfully held Introduction to Campus and Character Education (Pendikar) activities to welcome new students of 2023 intake. This activity was carried out for 4 days from 15 to 19 August at the Erlangga Campus, Universitas Diponegoro.

A total of 120 freshmen of the Applied Foreign Language study program received an introduction to the campus environment. This activity is expected to help students transition from high school/vocational high school level to tertiary level. The education system in tertiary institutions demands the students’ independence. Therefore, the Introduction to Campus activities provided information about academic regulations implemented at Undip, ethics, disaster preparedness, and information systems used to support academic activities.

Furthermore, the freshmen learned character education (Pendikar). During Pendikar activities, students were invited to understand the good traits of a Young Diponegoro which are abbreviation as COMPLETE (Communicator, Professional, Leader, Thinker, and Educator). The new students not only received lectures about the materials, but also immediately practiced it in mini games held together with their respective group members.

New student orientation week activities at the study program level were concluded on Saturday, August 19. On the last day, they learned about SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-Bound) steps in achieving goals. The freshmen were expected to be able to apply steps in achieving their goals at university.
