The Advanced Speaking course is again holding a mini talk show. Unlike previous years, this year is the first time that a mini talk show in the Advanced Speaking class is held offline. In the first episode which was held on Tuesday, May 16 2023, the host students invited a volunteer from Japan, Raika-san, and a tutor of Kampung Inggris, Zulfa Bachtiar.

The first episode of this mini talk show presented the theme of student exchange and work. In session 1, the talk show was hosted by Alya Hanaani, Jauzia Yusi, Hernandez Trivano, Adimas Arya, and Zulfikar Arifiyan. The hosts in session 1 invited Raika-san as their guest star. Raika is a volunteer from Waseda University who acts as a teaching assistant for several courses in the Applied Foreign Language study program. In the discussion session, Raika-san shared his experiences during his stay in Indonesia. He said that learning the local language in the host country gave many benefits. One of them was that it eased him to socialize and it could deepen his understanding of the local culture. He also advised students who would participate in student exchanges to learn the local language as well to broaden their horizons.

The mini talk show activities continued in session 2 with different hosts and guest stars. Session 2 raised the theme of occupation, hosted by Vergina Molluscas, Ghina Humaira, Vania Elisha, Salma Aprilia, and Nadia Alisha. The guest star for session 2 is a tutor from the course institution Mr. Bob, Kampung Inggris, namely Zulfa Bachtiar who is a third-year student of Applied Foreign Language. Zulfa shared his experience on how he came to be a tutor at Kampung Inggris. Apart from that, he also explained to the hosts and the audience about the importance of experience and time management for a successful career. In addition, Zulfa also suggested the importance of negotiating skills at work.

The Advanced Speaking course is a course offered for second-year students taking English stream in the Applied Foreign Language Study Program, Universitas Diponegoro. Mini talk show is part of the assessment for this course, where students as hosts are required to use English. By independently organizing talk show activities and using English actively, this activity provides students the experience to manage a small-scale project and increase their confidence to communicate in a foreign language.
